Alexander Technique Lessons with Riding in Mind
We may decide that the best way forward is to improve your ability to organise and control your body. The best way to do this is by teaching you the Alexander Technique.
In your lessons I will be helping you to find your balance, coordination and suppleness.
I will be teaching you the principles of the Technique.
You will learn:- To pause to think before reacting
- To balance your skeletal framework
- How to release unnecessary muscle tension
- That end-gaining is counter-productive.
- An improvement in your riding position
- More self-awareness
- Mental and physical calmness
- The feeling of balance
- Being in the moment.
This attitude and quiet balance is the best way to connect with and bring understanding to your horse during schooling sessions.
We call this GOOD USE
GOOD USE means that the rider has a correctly balanced, deeply connected seat, is supple, well coordinated and has developed self-carriage.
GOOD USE is created by finding the correct relationship between your head, neck, back and pelvis, allowing gravity to fall directly to your seat-bones.
GOOD USE allows you to communicate your intentions to your horse in a effective but subtle way.
GOOD USE allows you to influence your horse into good use.
GOOD USE allows you to be more self-aware and more in control both of your body and your thoughts and reactions.
GOOD USE creates correct, releasing breathing.
GOOD USE creates confidence and calmness.
